Access to a number of ATME-I services, including: Presidents Club, office services and organized events introducing offshore delegations to member companies.
ATMA organizes U.S. pavilions and trade missions for members at offshore exhibitions and locations. The association also organizes travel/housing/business services packages to major international trade events.
Members have numerous opportunities throughout the year for intra-industry networking, peer contact and information exchange. In addition to its Annual Meeting, ATMA conducts regional meetings throughout the year. Information sharing also is achieved through association surveys and a multi-industry listserv.
ATMA members' products and services are marketed via the website. Member listings on ATMA's website are linked to individual member company sites and are optimized for increased search engine traffic.
Members have the opportunity to submit the names and contact information for their international reps, agents and distributors. This information is compiled into an Agents/Reps/Distributors Directory to facilitate identification of international sales and marketing support.
ATMA members receive an electronic Marketing Memo focusing on market/sales related information including trade opportunities from the U.S. Department of Commerce, other government agencies, private marketing/sales related inquiries, industry statistics and trade-specific publications and seminars.
ATMA members are represented in Washington, D.C., before members of Congress and government agencies. These efforts currently focus on value of the dollar, emerging markets, and relevant trade issues affecting the textile industry. The association is also aligned with other U.S. capital equipment industries with similar interests regarding federal government policy on technology and textile market concentrations. Additionally, ATMA is active with non-government coalitions, such as those led by the National Association of Manufacturers.
ATMA is actively engaged with customer associations in support of public policy positions to improve the competitive position of U.S. textile mills. These groups include the American Textile Alliance and the National Council of Textile Organizations.
ATMA is a member of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to ISO/Technical Committee 199 (Machinery Safety), and through this organization, the association reviews and comments on machinery safety standards as they are developed.
ATMA members participate in the Product Liability Prevention & Defense Group, which helps equipment manufacturers prevent product-related accidents, lower insurance premiums, avoid litigation, and improve defense posture in liability suits. This is an extracurricular activity administered by ATMA staff.
Over the years, ATMA has been recognized for its professionalism and service by several associations.
ATMA received the President's E Star Award for Export Services.
ATMA received two personal letters of commendation and gratitude from President Reagan for support in passage of tax and product liability legislation.
ATMA's management firm is an Accredited Association Management Company. Among 500-plus association management companies (AMCs) worldwide, less than 80 have achieved AMC Institute Accreditation, demonstrating the commitment and ability to deliver the highest level of professional management services. The AMC Institute Accreditation is unique because it is based on an AMC Standard developed under the guidelines established by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). ASMI earned accreditation by submitting an accreditation application and by demonstrating to an independent auditor that it meets the standard.
ATMA's president, management counsel, and communications director received Certified Association Executive (CAE) status by competitive examination and management experience, conferred to less than 3,000 of the nation's estimated 400,000 association and society employees.
Grants were received from the Economic Development Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce, to conduct marketing, technical, and product liability studies.
ATMA was instrumental in the Department of Commerces award of the Textile & Apparel Machinery Modernization Foundation (TAMMF) grant.
The official Member Product Directory received a national award from the American Society of Association Executives.
The Textile Information Users Council, Inc., recognized ATMA for its significant role in providing information services to the industry.
